Ice Energy was called out to one of our fire station 311 and checked out a mini split unit that was not cooling. It was determined that it was low on refrigerant. The unit was topped off at no charge and is now working great. That is what i call excellent customer service.

Why mini split instead of extending central AC to an ADU?
Three reasons. (1) Extending central ductwork to a detached structure is expensive and inefficient - long duct runs lose 25-40 percent of conditioned air. (2) The main house AC is sized for the main house; adding load typically requires upsizing the main unit, costing more than a dedicated mini split. (3) Mini splits are zoned by default - the ADU thermostat is separate from the main house, which matters for renters or short-term rental setups.
How much does a Daikin mini split install cost in the HD?
Single-zone Daikin install runs $4,500-$7,200 depending on capacity (9k-24k BTU) and tier. Multi-zone (2-3 indoor heads) runs $8,500-$14,000. Daikin Aurora cold-climate variant adds ~$800-$1,200. Does Daikin work well in extreme High Desert heat?
Yes. Daikin mini splits use inverter compressors that modulate output continuously, which actually performs better in sustained-load conditions (110F afternoons) than single-stage ducted systems. The compressor runs at variable speed instead of cycling on/off, which uses less power per BTU delivered.
What's the warranty really cover?
12 years parts AND compressor when installed by JCE (factory-authorized). That's 6 years better than buying a Daikin online and hiring a generic installer. Daikin requires authorized-dealer installation to honor the extended warranty - we handle registration at install.
Can a Daikin mini split heat my ADU in winter?
Yes. Standard models heat efficiently down to about 5F. Aurora cold-climate models maintain rated heating down to -13F. Even Wrightwood's coldest nights are above 0F. No heat strips or backup needed in 99 percent of HD installs.
Does JCE install other brands of mini split (Mitsubishi, LG, etc.)?
Yes, we service and install all major mini split brands. Daikin is the brand we are factory-authorized for, which means the 12-year extended warranty only applies to Daikin installs. Other brands get the manufacturer's standard 5-7 year warranty.
