What we do for you

The full scope.

  • Air-source heat pump install (single zone or multi-zone ductless)
  • Cold-climate variable-speed inverter units (Mitsubishi, Daikin, Carrier, Bosch)
  • Dual-fuel systems (heat pump + backup gas furnace) for cold-snap reliability
  • Existing ductwork compatibility audit and modifications
  • SCE rebate paperwork pulled and applied to your final price
  • Smart thermostat and zoning controls

How the job runs

Diagnose → quote → fix → verify.

01

Audit

Heating + cooling load. Existing duct condition. Electrical panel capacity (heat pumps need 240V). Cold-snap performance discussion.

02

Quote

Variable-speed vs. dual-fuel options. Rebate amounts itemized. Payback period calculated against your current gas + electric bills.

03

Install

Most installs done in one to two days. Old AC + furnace removed, new heat pump set, refrigerant lines run, electrical pulled.

04

Commission

Charge verified, defrost cycle tested, supply temps measured at registers, smart thermostat programmed.

What it costs

Real numbers, not estimates.

Range Tier What it covers
$4,500-$7,000 Standard 16 SEER2 heat pump 2-3 ton, single stage, ducted
$7,000-$9,500 Variable-speed inverter 3-4 ton, two-stage or modulating, cold-climate rated
$9,500-$11,000 Premium ductless multi-zone Up to 8 zones, individual room control

National installed range: $4,500-$11,000 (HomeGuide, 2026). Heat pump incentives can stack into four figures when statewide funds are open, but funding opens and closes through the year, so we confirm what is actually available the day we quote. Heat pumps replace both AC and furnace in one system.

Common local issues

Built for our climate.

Cold-snap performance below 25°F

Older heat pumps lost capacity below 35°F. Modern cold-climate variable-speed units (Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat, Daikin Aurora, Carrier Infinity) maintain rated output down to 5°F. We spec these for High Desert installs where overnight lows hit the 20s.

Defrost cycle in winter wind

Outdoor units run a defrost cycle in cold humid air. High Desert winter air is dry but coil frost still occurs in the early morning. We mount units off the ground with proper drainage and verify defrost timing at commissioning.

Electrical panel capacity

Heat pumps run on 240V circuits and pull more amps than gas furnaces. Older HD homes with 100A service may need a panel upgrade. We check the panel before quoting, not after.

Federal IRA credit expired, SCE rebate active

The federal Inflation Reduction Act tax credit expired. Southern California Edison rebates remain the primary HD heat pump incentive. We pull current SCE rebate sheets and apply at quote time.

Our air conditioning unit went out in the middle of this heat wave. We were able to get a quote right away. My husband has health problems and they were amazing ordering a new unit and getting it installed. Joseph and his team worked so well, so efficiently and also went above and beyond to get everything installed. Great pricing also. We definitely will support them and recommend them.

Joe and his team were great. They were professional, did a thorough job, installed a 2-ton mini-split, worked around the quirks of my home, were polite, punctual, and cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely recommend Joe and his team for any HVAC issues. I look forward to working with them again soon.

This business is the best! You will not be disappointed. He checked my heating n air system in Bonsall, the reason not working, my breaker was off. And thus found out why my washer n dryer was not working I was able to cancel the order of new washer n dryer, he turned on the breakers . He checked all vents. He alerted me , I needed a filter for the 1 large intake vent. The system is in the attic, everything great, gave me how old system is. Also lastly checked the system outside that changes from heat to air conditioning. (Heat Pump). Thank you JC ENERGY SOL. PS THEY INSTALLED IN MY VALLEY CENTER HOME A SPILT SYSTEM , I LOVE IT!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do heat pumps work in the High Desert winter?

Yes. Modern variable-speed cold-climate heat pumps maintain rated heating capacity down to 5°F. High Desert winter overnight lows are typically 25-35°F, well within reliable operating range.

How much does a heat pump cost in the High Desert?

Standard ducted heat pumps run $4,500-$7,000 installed. Variable-speed inverter models $7,000-$9,500. Ductless multi-zone systems up to $11,000. Heat pump incentives can stack into four figures when statewide funds are open, but funding opens and closes through the year, so we confirm what is actually available the day we quote.

Can I keep my gas furnace as backup (dual-fuel)?

Yes. Dual-fuel systems use the heat pump down to about 35-40°F, then switch to the gas furnace for cold snaps. Smart thermostats handle the changeover automatically. This is a popular HD setup.

Will a heat pump cool my home as well as a regular AC?

Yes. Heat pumps and air conditioners use the same compressor and refrigerant cycle for cooling. SEER2 ratings are directly comparable. A 16 SEER2 heat pump cools identically to a 16 SEER2 AC.

What rebates are available?

SCE runs ongoing rebates on high-efficiency heat pumps through SCE and statewide programs like TECH Clean California. The federal IRA credit has expired. Amounts and funding change through the year, so we pull the current SCE rebate sheet at quote time and apply what is funded that week to your final price.

How long does a heat pump last?

Modern heat pumps last 12-15 years with annual maintenance. Variable-speed inverter units (Mitsubishi, Daikin, Bosch IDS) tend to last longer because they run at lower loads more often.

Will my electric bill go up with a heat pump?

Electric usage goes up because you are now heating with electricity instead of gas. Heat pumps are 200-400% efficient versus 80 percent to about 98 percent AFUE for gas furnaces, but whether your combined bill drops depends on your SCE rate plan and SoCalGas rate. We run your actual past 12 months of bills at quote time and show the real payback for your home.

What financing do you offer?

GreenSky promotional plans (some 0% APR) plus Wisetack soft-pull pay-over-time. See financing options.
