Sunday spike load sizing

Sanctuaries go from 5 staff on Tuesday to 300+ congregation Sunday morning. Equipment sized for peak load short-cycles on slow days, equipment sized for average load fails on Sunday. We use stage-modulating RTUs + smart thermostats with pre-cooling schedules to handle both.

Sanctuary acoustic targets

NC-25 to NC-30 noise levels are the standard for sanctuaries with live preaching + worship music. Achieved through careful equipment selection (variable-speed blowers), duct sizing for low velocity, and acoustic lining where supply/return registers enter the sanctuary.

Kid zone + classroom zoning

Nurseries, kid zones, and Sunday school classrooms need separate thermostats from the sanctuary. We zone based on actual occupancy patterns. Kid zones often need cooling when sanctuary is in heating mode.

Attached school facility integration

Many HD churches have attached K-12 or preschool facilities. Jubilee Christian School is a JCE project. We handle the school-side HVAC on a separate occupancy schedule (Mon-Fri school hours) integrated with the church Sunday schedule.

Pre-cooling for Sunday morning

We program smart thermostats to start cooling Saturday evening or 4am Sunday so the sanctuary is at temperature when doors open. Avoids 11am cooling failures from undersized equipment trying to catch up to congregation body heat.

Post-service equipment cycle-down

After Sunday service, equipment ramps down to vacancy temperature setpoint to save 30-40% on weekly operating cost vs running constant. Smart scheduling integrated with church calendar.
