Phelan ductwork is different from valley cities because lots are typically 1-5+ acres with larger custom homes (often 2,000-3,500+ sq ft) and longer attic duct runs (150-300+ linear ft total). Larger home + longer duct runs means more total linear footage to seal or replace. Cold-snap performance at 3,800 ft elevation also makes duct insulation more important than at lower elevations. Inadequately insulated supply ducts in 140°F+ summer attics gain 5-10°F to supply air, killing cooling. Same ducts in 25°F winter attics lose 8-15°F from heated supply air, killing furnace efficiency. R-8 insulated flex is mandatory on every Phelan full-replacement install. Older Phelan homes often have R-3 or R-6 insulation from original construction that needs replacement at 20+ years even if joints are still sealed. We measure static pressure on every diagnostic to identify restrictive duct conditions before they cause equipment failures.
