Quick answer

San Bernardino IAQ pricing: 4-inch MERV 13 media filter cabinet $200-$450. UV-C lamp $400-$700. Whole-home HEPA bypass $1,500-$2,500. Full IAQ stack $2,000-$3,500. Post-wildfire duct cleaning $400-$800.

Why this matters in San Bernardino

Indoor Air Quality in San Bernardino.

San Bernardino IAQ work centers on three local concerns — proximity to fire-prone foothill terrain, older housing stock with accumulated dust, and respiratory-sensitive demographics. The city is downwind of forest fire zones in the San Bernardino mountains, so wildfire smoke recovery is recurring after fire events. Older Arrowhead, North Park, and central San Bernardino homes with 50+ year-old ductwork often have decades of accumulated dust that 1-inch monthly filters cannot keep up with — duct cleaning + 4-inch media filter cabinet upgrades address this. Demographics with higher respiratory sensitivity benefit from full IAQ stack installs (MERV 13 + UV-C + iWave-R) for managing asthma, COPD, and allergen exposure.

Local challenges

What we see on the ground.

Older San Bernardino homes commonly need duct cleaning combined with IAQ upgrades because the existing ducts have accumulated dust over decades. HEPA-cabinet duct cleaning + new 4-inch MERV 13 media filter cabinet typically $700-$1,200 combined. UV-C lamp install at the evaporator coil ($400-$700) suppresses mold growth on coils that have run damp for years. SCE territory citywide. Full IAQ stack installs completed in 1-2 days depending on duct cleaning scope.

JC Energy solutions is my go to. I used them recently for a spring tune up on the AC and a thermostat switched out. I Was able to get an appointment next day. Both techs were very helpful and thorough in their work. Highly recommend

Nothing but great things to say about this company.. Was referred to them by a friend a few years back and never looked back honestly. It was hard to find reliable quality service in Barstow back when it came to getting my mom’s mastercool working. Techs we had come just had us buying parts after parts with no fix to the problem, called up JC Energy and their owner Joseph came out and had it fixed the first time out. Fast forward a few years now and I’m still having them service my own home. Our Technician Michael is very thorough with his work and there to answer any questions I’ve had. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does IAQ work cost in San Bernardino?
4-inch MERV 13 media filter cabinet $200-$450. UV-C lamp $400-$700. Full stack $2,000-$3,500. Post-wildfire duct cleaning $400-$800.
My older Arrowhead home has decades of duct dust. What is the right fix?
HEPA-cabinet duct cleaning combined with 4-inch MERV 13 media filter cabinet upgrade. Combined typically $700-$1,200. The new filter cabinet keeps the cleaned ducts clean going forward.
I have asthma. What IAQ upgrades help in San Bernardino?
Full IAQ stack: 4-inch MERV 13 media filter cabinet + UV-C lamp at the evaporator coil + iWave-R bipolar ionization. Total $2,000-$3,500. Catches finer particles, suppresses mold, ionizes allergens for filter capture.
My San Bernardino home was hit by wildfire smoke. Can you do recovery work?
Yes. Post-smoke HEPA-cabinet duct cleaning $400-$800. Filter swap. UV-C lamp install for evaporator-coil mold suppression on smoke-contaminated coils. We package post-wildfire recovery as a single coordinated job.
How much does indoor air quality improvement cost?
MERV 13 cabinet upgrade: $200-$450. UV-C or iWave-R add-on: $450-$1,200. Whole-home HEPA system: $1,200-$2,500. Filter upgrades alone make the biggest difference for cost vs. impact.
What is MERV rating and what should I get?
MERV is a 1-16 scale measuring filter efficiency. Builder-grade is usually MERV 8 (catches dust, lint, pollen). MERV 13 catches finer particles including smoke, mold spores, and bacteria. We spec MERV 13 minimum on every HD install. MERV 16 is HEPA-equivalent and requires a properly sized media cabinet.
Should I get UV-C lamps or an air purifier?
UV-C lamps mounted at the coil kill mold and bacteria growing on the coil itself. iWave-R bipolar ionization handles smoke odors, VOCs, and airborne pathogens throughout the duct system. They solve different problems and can be combined.
