Rancho Cucamonga housing stock skews newer than other Inland Empire cities — most of the city is post-1990 master-planned tract construction in Terra Vista, Victoria Park, Day Creek, and Etiwanda neighborhoods. AC failure modes here are different from older IE cities. Less R-22 retrofit work, more capacitor and contactor failures on R-410A systems aging into their 12-15 year replacement window. The bigger custom homes in Etiwanda and Alta Loma often have multi-zone HVAC systems with damper actuators and zone control boards — when one zone stops cooling, the failure is usually at the zone hardware, not the main system. Diagnosis needs to cover refrigerant pressures at the outdoor unit, then airflow zone-by-zone at the registers, then damper actuator function. We do that systematically so customers do not pay for a refrigerant recharge when the actual problem is a $200 damper motor.
